School Canteen
Cashless Dining Service
Castlederg High School uses a cashless dining system which involves using a biometric system. This system uses fingerprints to record each individual’s account, therefore it is necessary for a scan to be taken of each child’s fingerprint during the induction day.
Our school canteen, known as the ‘Derg Diner’ is a bright and spacious eating area, which includes modern café style seating that creates a sociable atmosphere. The school canteen boasts a five star hygiene rating. It operates a self-service cafeteria serving healthy and nutritious food for breakfast, break and lunch each day. Food provided in the school canteen is a popular choice among our pupils, although pupils may also bring a packed lunch.
Pupils may be entitled to free school meals. To check eligibility contact the Benefits Section of the Education Authority. Where pupils are entitled to a free school meal allowance, parents should note that this allowance is only applicable to the cost of a pupil’s lunch, and NOT to either breakfast or break. This is by regulation of the Education Authority, not the school.
