Care and Support

The ethos of Castlederg High School places great emphasis on care and support.  We pride ourselves on getting to know each young person as an individual and are committed to ensuring they reach their full potential within a caring and supportive learning environment.  The high quality of care and support that we offer, undoubtedly impacts positively on our excellent examination results.  It is our experience that happy pupils with a strong sense of belonging to their school, are motivated to learn and so exceed their own expectations of themselves as learners.

We have a great sense of responsibility in terms of our duty

of care to each young person in order to:

  • ensure their safety

  • promote their welfare

  • offer personal, social and emotional support

  • support them as learners

  • guide them towards their future.

As a school community we recognize the importance of excellent relations between pupils, staff and parents. Pupils are encouraged to speak to staff about their needs, as well as having their voice heard through the Students’ Council.  We welcome, and indeed, encourage parents to contact us about any matter of concern that could impact on their child’s emotional wellbeing or progress in learning.

This section of our website provides further information on Child Protection, Pastoral Care and Learning Support.
